Styled Wedding Shoot at Highbury Hall, Birmingham

In this blog I would like to share with you some lovely images and details of a wedding photo shoot I was involved in last summer at the lovely Highbury Hall in Birmingham.

The photo shoot was headed up buy the very talented Sam Davies from Rose and Rainbow Photography. This is my second shoot with Sam, take a look at my previous blog My First Photoshoot to read all about the first soot I was part of. Sam used lots of talented local suppliers for this shoot including Pollen Floral Joy for the amazing flower arrangements, Bee and the Bear Bakes for the stunning cake and Lief Bridal for the beautiful dress.

My main focus for the shoot was to provide décor for the beautiful bannister on the second floor of the building. I visited the venue before the shoot to take a look at the decor and style of the rooms and get an understanding of what styling would complement the existing features. Highbury Hall is a Grade II listed Victorian Mansion built in 1876 and boasts lots of dark wood work and grand features, such as marble fire places, stair cases and high ceilings. As the décor in the buildings is quite dark, I decided to use white and ivory styling items so it would stand out in contrast to the dark wooden banister.

I decided to use white chiffon material to drape along the banister. I used a scalloped style in the draping and added in a small posy of ivory roses and greenery into each scallop. The flowers were kindly provided by Pollen Floral Joy. I made a feature at the end of the banister by allowing extra material to flow onto the floor and adding a larger posy of flowers and greenery.

I also collaborated with the lovely Judith from Pollen Floral Joy to decorate the marble fireplace in the main hall. We added in lots of beautiful floral arrangements along the top of the fire place and also at the bottom. I added in lots of glass candle holders and candles in amongst the flowers to add a little extra décor to the base of the fire place.
