At this time of year, I am always busy dealing with queries from new clients and arranging consultations with brides and grooms to be to chat over their wedding décor requirements. After receiving a lovely email from the bride of my latest wedding it made me start thinking about the ways I work with my clients, from that very first consultation to the day of the wedding to achieve a successful result. These thoughts then inspired me to write this blog to give tips and advice about the best ways of working with your wedding venue dresser to ensure you successfully communicate to get the wedding room styling you want.
1. Give a Brief
I love nothing better than turning up to a wedding consultation and meeting a couple who have a clear vision of their wedding décor. It helps me to understand the style they want to create in the room. I totally understand that not everyone is able to do this…there is now so much choice out there that it can cloud your vision and couples struggle to make decisions on the décor they want. My advice is to have a good look around and start a Pinterest board and soon you will be able to see common themes in there which will help you to understand what you like.
2. Stick to Your Theme
Once you have picked a theme and a colour scheme stick to it and try not to go off track with all the other prettiness you see! There is so much out there to see, and trends are changing all the time but once you have identified and chosen what you want, be brave and stick with it. A venue dresser will always try to accommodate your what you want, however, mixing themes and adding in other elements to your décor can create confusion, and will result in you not achieving that seamless look you want to flow through your wedding venue.
3. Show Images
Brides and grooms today love Pinterest and so do I! A Pinterest board can be so useful to your venue dresser as it gives us a visual of what you wanting to create in your wedding room. It also clarifies styles, themes and color schemes. The amount of conversations I have had about a shade of purple or what a vintage centerpiece looks like are endless and can be quickly confirmed by showing your venue dresser images of the exact style what you want.
4. Check Decor with Your Venue
Your venue dresser will want to meet all your needs and work with you to create the wedding room of your dreams, but a spanner can be thrown in the works if your venue has limitations on what décor they allow. If you are looking for amazing floral instillations, additional lighting to be added or any décor that needs to be attached to the walls then run it by your wedding coordinator first. There really isn’t anything worse than promising to create a look for a couple to only be told later down the line that this is unachievable in your chosen venue.
5. Keep in Contact
I love nothing more than meeting up with my couples and chatting face to face about all things wedding. Not only does it give me a good feel for my clients and their style, but it also sets the basis of a good working relationship. Through out your wedding journey keep in regular contact with your venue dresser and keep them updated on any changes you have decided to make. Some changes may seem small but if left too late your venue dresser may not be able to accommodate you.
