In September I was super lucky and got to dress two weddings at the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Birmingham. This wedding was completely different to the first wedding I styled at this venue, and it was great fun to be able to create two looks for the same room.
When I first met the bride for this wedding, she had a clear vision of how she wanted the wedding breakfast room to look. She had a big colour pallet full of rich shades that she wanted to incorporate into the room. In the end we settled on three main colours – burgundy, plum and gold.
I started with the chair décor and ordered in a wide range of shades in the colours scheme the bride wanted. When more than one colour is being used for chair décor it is so important to get the right shades to compliment each other as they will be right next to each other and there is nowhere to hide if the colours clash. For this colour pallet I went for deep, rich shades so the red of the burgundy and purple of the plum would not clash against each other.
For the table décor the bride wanted large candelabras, which were provided by the venue. And we chose burgundy candles for them to compliment the colour scheme. Either side of the candelabras the bride wanted garlands, as the tables at this venue are oval, we had plenty of room either side to add this décor in. Once the bride mentioned she wanted floral decoration I knew there was only one person to call………one of my favorite florists Judith from Pollen Floral Joy!
As the brides was from London, we arranged a one-off meeting to go through all the finer details, and the lovely Judith was able to join us to chat through the garland style we were providing for the tables. Judith decided on florals with deep reds, purples and pinks, topped off with a few gorgeous champagne coloured roses to lift the pallet a little. The florals were laid on garlands filled with lots of lush foliage and the results were stunning.
The finished room was awash with rich, deep colours and floral garlands that complimented the colour scheme perfectly. It was so lovely to have the seal of approval from the groom who arrived just as we were finishing to take a sneaky peak at the wedding room before she dashed off to the church.
