Well what a summer it’s been for Event Styling by Amy Victoria…….I feel like I have just blinked and we are now in the middle of September! Looking at my blog page my last post was back in May! Huge apologies, but to say I’ve been busy is an understatement. In this blog I just wanted to say a big “hello” and let you know that I’m still here and give you a quick round up of the summer and what I’ve been up to.
May
So I guess I should start with May as I don’t seem to have mentioned any of the lovely weddings I did then! In this month I styled 5 weddings and 2 parties, all the rooms I styled were in and around Birmingham so it was lovely to be so local and be working close to home for a change. I also visited a few new venues in this month, one of my favorites was Spring Grove House at the West Midlands Safari Park. When arriving at the beautiful Georgian manor you are greeted in the lobby area by the most beautiful wall painting of safari animals which is an amazing back drop for the stair case. At this wedding I provided chair covers and sashes, as well as some aisle styling and prop hire of some of my smaller wooden letters. These were displayed by the top table in the wedding breakfast room. The rooms at this venue are already full of lots of decor and styling so we kept this wedding quite simple and natural to make the most of the surroundings that were already there.
June
I did two lovely weddings over in Worcester in June. You may remember June was a very wet moth with lots of rain fall so I was so please to arrive at these two venues to beautiful blue skies and some sun shine! One of the venues was Birtsmorton Court, which was another new venue for me and we helped to decorate a lovely marquee. Marquees are such a blank canvas as they are usually white and have no features in them so any decor you add in really stands out and sets the tone. This bride went for a beautiful burnt orange colour scheme and the chair decor we provided really stood out in the room and made a great impact as the guests walked in. I also provided my wooden arch which was decorated and used to create a back drop for photos on the evening.
July
July was another busy month for me providing decor for 2 corporate events and 6 weddings, one of which was in the Cotswold’s. Another of the weddings I styled was at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens where i styled both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. I loved this wedding as the couple I worked with were so open to new ideas and suggestions and we worked closely together to make their wedding room vision become a reality. I also worked closely with a corporate company who were celebrating their 10 year anniversary at the Marco Pierre White restaurant on the 25th floor of The Cube in Birmingham’s city center. Again for this project i worked closely with the company and the venue to make the styling of the event run smoothly and completed in a the tight time frame I had been set. This was a huge challenge for me and something totally different to what I am used to working on. I will share more details and images of this in a later blog so keep an eye out for that one!
August
I slowed down a little in August and managed to squeeze in some much needed family time with a little camping trip away! In this month I provided decor for 4 weddings and balloon decor for a 30th birthday party at The Cube in Birmingham, which was lots of fun. Again i visited a few new venues in this month, one of them being Worfield Village Hall in Shropshire. This is very much a DIY venue and when I arrived it was a hub of activity full of family and friends giving a help in had to get the room ready for the wedding the following day. We provided chair covers, sashes and table runners to help create this very rustic wedding room which looked beautiful by the time we left with all the personal finsihing touches that had been added in.
Well that was a very quick over view of what I’ve been up to, but it gives you a snippets of the different projects I have been working on over the last few months. I will come back and give each wedding and event the attention it deserves in seperate posts over the coming weeks to share all the lovely details with you.
