Welcome to my first post of 2020! This year I have decided to be more visable to my clients allow people to put a face to the name of Event Styling by Amy Victoria. and thought what better way to start than adding a blog to introduce myself. You can get to know a bit more about me as a person, my background and what my plans are for this year…and of course I’ll throw in a couple of pics of me along the way!
This is me!
So, this is me…Amy Lyness aka Event Styling by Amy Victoria. Born and bred in Birmingham I have never strayed far from home and enjoy being a city girl. After leaving uiversity I worked for a number of local companies in and around the Birmingham area finally falling in to a HR career which I loved.
Following the arrival of my children I went back to work part time but missed the responsibility and hussle and bustle of a full time role, whilst also craving flexibilty for my young family, which the corporate world just couldn’t give me. It seemed like I couldn’t have it all…or could I? I realised that if I worked for myself then I would be able to work more hours, but around my family schedule, giving me more fulfilment in my work life.
So, now what to do? I always had a love and a passion for weddings and decided that was the indusrty I wanted to get into. With that I started up Completely Sweetly, offering sweet cart hire for weddings and occassions. My stock soon expanded and my lone sweet cart was joined by chair covers and sashes, centrepices, post boxes, back drops, aisle runners…the list went on and I soon realised a rebrand was needed as my company name didn’t match the services I now offered. And so Event Styling by Amy Victoria was born, a full venue dressing service for weddings, occassions and corporate events. I am now in my forth year of business and haven’t looked back since!
Family Life
I have been married to my husband Ant for almost 13 years and we have two beautiful children and one fur baby (which I am hoping to increase to two soon!). Before children we loved to travel as much as possible, and now our children are getting older we are enjoying being able to share exciting holidays and trips together as a family. We live for our holidays and love the experiences of other countries and cultures. When at home we are National Trust members and when I have a weekend off we love to go and expore…here’s a snap of us on one of our little adventures.
New Year, New Plans
2020 is an exciting year for me as I start on a new bsuiness venture as a wedding planner – welcome to The Wedding Bubble, a luxe wedding planning service based in Birmingham and covering the Midlands area. I have started up this new business with my friend, Michelle. After knowing each other for years and having having our own separate business, which crossed paths regularly, we enjoyed working with each other and joined forces to create The Wedding Bubble. My new business will not impact at all on Event Styling by Amy Victoria as I will continue as normal providing all my lovely clients with beautiful venue decor.
