Well, it’s been some time since I’ve blogged! To be honest I just haven’t known what to say, as with so many others in the wedding industry lockdown has ground us to a complete halt.
It’s now been just over a year since we all received the announcement of the first lockdown and that was when I dressed my last wedding. The lucky couple managed to just get their wedding in before the restrictions hit us and had a beautiful reception in the glassed Champagne Bar on the 25th floor of The Cube in Birmingham city center. The next day I went to collect my items it was like a ghost town – Saturday morning and the busy city center was empty. It was very surreal.
Since then, I have filled my days with, ready a huge amount of books, gardening, home schooling and moving house! I have spent the last 12 months feeling torn – on one hand I have been so grateful to have been able to step back from my busy life and spend time with my family, but on the other hand I have been lost without my business.
I have grown Event Styling by Amy Victoria from scratch. I started 5 years ago with just a sweet cart and have grown it into a full venue dressing business. In 2019 I carried out 49 weddings and events and 2020 was set to be even bigger.
Last year I carried a few small, intimate weddings in between the restrictions which I really enjoyed but I must say I am so looking forward to getting back to the busy lifestyle I was used to and consuming myself with weddings!
This year I have felt like I have been getting back into the swing of things as my emails have been crazy and I have loved being back to offering ideas and inspiration to some lovely couples and can’t wait to get styling again. Roll on the summer!
