Following on from my recent blog I wanted to chat a little about city weddings. Most couples dream of the perfect wedding venue being a stunning manor house or castle with huge landscaped grounds surrounding it to make the perfect back drop for those all-important wedding photos. However, after the recent wedding fayre I attended at Fazeley Studios in Birmingham’s city centre I have been opened up to a world of amazing city venues with quirky features and grounds to give a totally different wedding style.

City weddings are becoming very popular with today’s couples, as they seek out converted warehouses and hotels to create a modern, urban vibe for their special day. Often these inner city venues offer the additional element of surprise. Where a grand country manor looks astonishing as you make your way up the driveway, the unassuming blue doors of Fazeley Studios for example, give way to such an incredible space that your guests will no doubt be very pleasantly surprised.

Why Get Married in a City Location?

There are so many reasons! Of course you have the ease of logistics for your guests. They will be able to travel incredibly easily to a city location with public transport links being much better than more rural locations. You also have the added benefit of a wider range of accommodation options as city’s are bursting with hotels catering for a whole range of budgets.

But of course, there are so many more reasons than simple logistics! Currently, city weddings are something a little different to the norm. You can have your day your way with more modern venues often being less adorned than more historic buildings. Giving you the opportunity to style the venue to your exact tastes, without having to worry about the style of wallpaper or chintzy flourishes! 

City architecture is something that is often under valued. I have been astounded at some of the incredible architectural features right here in my home city of Birmingham. I challenge myself to look up more as it is so easy to miss the beauty that is right there in front of us. City weddings can celebrate this and the lively vibrant surroundings it sits in.
